August 13, 2018 - Northern-most microplastics measurement taken!

Team member Safiria Buono took a microplastics measurement using the Mantanet at 82°7 N! She sent this short message about the sad experience:

“Though my hands are frozen, my greatest fear was to catch a piece of ice in the Mantanet, which would have broken it… It was so sad to find a piece of blue plastic in the net after sampling sea water on the rim of the North Pole ice shelf.”
