Aleksandra’s passions are physics, philosophy and adventure, especially in the deep sea. And she succeeded in combining them all by becoming an expert in acoustic bottom investigations in Polar Regions, especially Spitsbergen, thanks to her PhD at the Polish Academy of Sciences (IOPAS) on “Habitat Mapping in Arctic Regions using side-scan sonar, single beam and multibeam echosounders”.
Since then, she’s been working with different acoustic devices to map the seabed and ocean waters in the Arctic, Baltic Sea, Mediterranean Sea, rivers and lakes. Her main interest is benthic habitat mapping but also underwater archaeology. She’s the perfect expert for the Polarquest scientists’ team. Polarquest is very grateful to Norbit Subsea for introducing Aleksandra to us and for the fantastic training she gave us on Norbit’s latest compact 3D multibeam sonar in Trondheim on June 11-12.
