Expedition to free the Arctic from Microplastics starts on #GivingTuesday!

November 28, 2017

Polarquest2018 launches its first environmental campaign on #GivingTuesday! Polarquest2018 will study microplastics, a pervasive pollutant threatening species at the base of our food chain. It travels over huge distances and accumulates in remote places such as the Poles, a crucial area for the balance of our planet’s sustainable future. In spite of this threat, there are no regulations on microplastics, and an urgent need to assess its pollution and create awareness of the threat.

In July and August 2018, Polarquest2018 explorers and researchers will sail to the Svalbard archipelago on Nanuq, a 60-foot polar sailboat, to carry out the first campaign to assess Microplastic contents above 78 degrees latitude.

Today, #GivingTuesday, we are launching our fundraising campaign on the #GlobalGiving platform. We need to raise $50,000 to ensure the mission feasibility. Giving Tuesday is not just the first day of the campaign. Every project raising $5,000 with 40 donors will receive a bonus prize and many advantages from Global Giving!
